About Lower Lleidi Reservoir / Swiss Valley
In November 2020, Llanelli Rural Council (LRC) agreed to a five-year community adoption agreement with Dwr Cymru Welsh Water for the environs surrounding the Lower Lliedi Reservoir at Swiss Valley. The adoption is the first of its kind in Wales.
The agreement provides more local ownership of the grounds with LRC providing regular maintenance duties and management for the facility.
The agreement with Dwr Cymru Welsh Water permits LRC to manage regulated angling and paddle sports activities and events at the reservoir.
Consultation with the angling fraternity highlighted the desire for a managed fishery and following the construction of the new access ramp and pontoon provided under the Welsh Governments ‘Access to Water’ grant scheme, the interest from SUP and kayak enthusiasts to access the water has been steadily growing.
The council has already embarked on an ambitious program of improvements at the reservoir with more to follow and working in collaboration with other partners such as the newly formed angling and paddle sports clubs, the future is looking good for the facility that is widely considered as the ‘jewel in the crown’ within LRC’s portfolio of facilities.

Car Parks
There are two public car parks. There is a steep hill to negotiate when walking down to the reservoir from the Llannon Road car park off the A476, however, a drive through the country lanes at the next turning will lead you down to the North car park located between the Upper and Lower Reservoirs.
Access to the reservoir is easier from the North Car park via a level-wide tarmac public footpath along the Western shore and a ‘rural’ path along the Eastern shore.
